Enlighten 2015 Event Report

The city’s national attractions again starred as the event’s centrepiece, with large-scale architectural projections shining a light on six of the capital’s most iconic buildings including Parliament House, Questacon, the National Portrait Gallery, the National Library of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia and the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House.

Floriade 2014 Event Report

Floriade encouraged visitors to embrace passion when the world-class floral extravaganza returned for its 27th year last September. Whether you expressed it on the field or from the sideline, through your hobbies or in your efforts to make our world a better place – there was something for everyone as Floriade delivered yet another fantastic program of events from Saturday 13 September to Sunday 12 October.

Enlighten 2014 Event Report

Culture and creativity illuminated the capital as Enlighten brought Canberra to life for the fourth year in 2014. Managed by Events ACT on behalf of the ACT Government, Enlighten was staged over nine nights with a particular focus on the weekends of 28 February to 1 March and 7 to 8 March.

Floriade 2013 Event Report

2013 was a significant year for Canberra with the celebration of its Centenary bringing the city to life. Floriade, the internationally recognised flagship event for the capital was a much anticipated part of this celebration, commemorating its 26th year with Beautiful Innovation. Over 8892m² of Commonwealth Park was filled with more than one million blooming bulbs and annuals to create the stunning backdrop for the abundance of workshops, entertainment and demonstrations on offer for adults and children alike from Saturday 14 September to Sunday 13 October.

Floriade 2012 Event Report

Floriade celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012 continuing to be an internationally recognised event and the largest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Canberra’s Commonwealth Park was transformed into a tapestry of colour with more than one million blooming bulbs and annuals creating the backdrop for 30 days of spectacular entertainment, horticultural delights and a smorgasbord of activities for the whole family from Saturday 15 September to Sunday 14 October.

Floriade 2011 Event Report

Floriade 2011 transformed Commonwealth Park into a melting pot of engaging experiences and entertainment, set among a million blooms. From 17 September to 16 October, Australia’s celebration of spring festival with A feast for the senses theme came to life through the new From the Pantry, inspired garden beds, live entertainment, horticultural delights, hanging basket workshops in the LINDEMAN’s Open Garden, fun kids’ activities, fascinating demonstrations, exhibitions and much more. Floriade NightFest, in its fourth year, ran for five nights, 28 September – 2 October. The park became an illuminated wonderland with spectacular new lighting installations and evenings of comedy, DJs, live music, films and complimentary pampering sessions from Floriade NightFest’s national sponsor for the second year — Garnier.

Enlighten 2013 Key Findings

The third annual Enlighten event, “see Canberra in a whole new light”, was staged over nine nights focussing on the weekends of 1 to 2 March and 8 to 9 March 2013. Managed by Events ACT on behalf of the ACT Government, this year’s Enlighten again used the city’s national attractions as a centrepiece of the event. The event featured large-scale architectural lighting projections on selected national attractions and after dark experiences inside the attractions, which included 52 free and ticketed events such as blockbuster exhibitions and rare films, architectural projections, live music and performances, stand-up comedy, tours into the depths of the national attractions, exclusive dining experiences and more. Two defined outdoor entertainment precincts were lit to illuminate the event venues and surrounding common domain areas, and incorporated local food and wine tastings, eateries, art and music.

Enlighten 2012 Event Report

ENLIGHTEN 2012 was staged over four nights on 2, 3, 9 and 10 March. Managed by Australian Capital Tourism on behalf of the ACT Government, this year’s ENLIGHTEN had a renewed focus on national attractions as a centrepiece of the event. The event featured late night openings at 13 attractions, spectacular architectural projections and entertainment precincts within Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. A new addition to the Canberra Festival, ENLIGHTEN added an array of night time activities to Canberra’s birthday celebrations, providing a spectacular new perspective on some of Australia’s most famous attractions with fun and memorable experiences.

Enlighten 2011 Event Report

ENLIGHTEN 2011 was staged over four nights on 11, 12, 18 and 19 March. Key national attractions, surrounding a picturesque concert venue at Commonwealth Place, were canvassed with spectacular architectural lighting effects from 11–19 March. Three of these leading attractions also opened their doors for special night access and exclusive platinum offerings. The concert venue by the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, was transformed into a festive hub with an exciting program of concerts by world-class international artists including George Benson, INXS, Chris Isaak and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
