Australia Day in the Capital

Celebrate Australia Day in the Park

It's all happening in Commonwealth Park this Australia Day with plenty of fun for the whole family!

Start your day with the Great Aussie Day Breakfast at 7.30am, proudly sponsored by ActewAGL, the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets and Canberra Milk. All money raised will go to the Heart Foundation.

This year live on Stage 88 children can take part in a How to Train Your Dragon Viking Training Workshop. Join Gobber and Gronkle as you learn the skills and special moves to take on any dragon that crosses your path. You will be trained by the famous and courageous Gobber and his special Viking Friends. You may even get the chance to defend yourself against the one and only Gronkle. Have you ever dreamed of being a Viking?
There’s plenty on offer for the whole family including a variety of amusements and games.

At 10am wander down to Rond Terrace to watch the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony, and then enjoy some Aussie treats while you listen to the beautiful sounds of Canberra locals Tuchasoul.

There's no better way to end the celebration of our nation with your family and friends than by enjoying the Australia Day Fireworks Spectacular on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
Enjoy background music on the foreshore at Regatta Point and watch the lake-based entertainment in the central basin of Lake Burley Griffin from Regatta Point, Patrick White Lawns (the lawns of the National Library) or Rond Terrace from 6pm. In a fitting finale, see the sky above Lake Burley Griffin come to life with a dazzling fireworks display from 9pm.
Pack your picnic and a rug and enjoy the range of entertainment and tucker on offer at the spectacular fireworks display over Lake Burley Griffin for Australia Day 2015.
